If you are considering using insurance for your appointments, it's helpful to check with your insurance provider about your particular insurance plan to see if psychotherapy and psychology sessions are is covered as well. If it is not covered, you may want to ask them if they do have a plan that covers it, or to explore if there are any other insurance policies that would be helpful to you at this time.
It is important to know that your health choices will be respected and supported. You can stop therapy at any time. We do encourage you to discuss your desire to stop therapy with your therapist so that you can consider the benefits and challenges together and stop therapy in a manner that would be most helpful to you.
An important goal of psychotherapy is helping a person discover greater capacity and independence.
When people come to therapy, they are coming for help with shifting an aspect in their life. It could be their emotional state, their mental state, their dynamic with others and so on. The ailments and struggles that people face are patterns. And shifting patterns requires consistency and practice. As such, the standard frequency for therapy sessions is once a week. However, there may be times when it is recommended to increase the frequency briefly. And there may be times when it’s helpful to reduce the frequency. Adjusting and adopting the suitable frequency will be decided in collaboration together, between you and your therapist.
A psychotherapist is a mental health practitioner who uses naturalistic, non-invasive methods (such as cognitive, behavioral or somatic practices) to help clients shift and strengthen their mental health. A psychotherapist does not, and can not, prescribe medication. On the other hand, a psychiatrist is a medical doctor and is trained to provide mental health treatment using medications.
The term therapy can refer to different types of therapists such as physiotherapists, who work with the body-mind physically, and psychotherapists who works with the mind-body mindfully. A psychotherapist includes mental and behavioral health practitioners with various background and training to provide their professional services as licensed psychologists, counselors and social workers.

Many people are not familiar with the term “psychotherapist” and are not sure how having sessions with a psychologist in Dubai can help them. Psychotherapy is a therapy that focuses on improving a person’s mental health and inter- and intrapersonal life skills so that they can experience more ease, resilience and success in different aspects of their life. Just like a physiotherapist would help someone learn how to move their body in a particular way to recover from injury, restore their alignment and experience greater agility, mobility balance and strength, a psychotherapist helps someone learn how to engage with naturalistic practices to increase important mental health muscles and agility such as emotion regulation, self-awareness, healthy boundary setting, effective communication and healthy relationship dynamics.
Psychotherapy is provided in the form of a therapeutic relationship between an individual person, a couple, a family, or a group and an experienced therapist to support the therapeutic goals along the journey for increased well-being. The therapeutic relationship begins with the therapist learning about your current concerns, the patterns that you have been struggling with and your growth goals. From there, a treatment plan is developed to support you along your own process.
Our highly experienced psychologists in Dubai work with you to help you learn to recognize the emotional patterns, thought patterns, physical distress patterns and behavioral patterns that are impacting you, and to discover the skills and capacity for shifting and transforming these patterns to feel more aligned, empowered and resilient.
It can be quite distressing to struggle with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, phobia, trauma, low self-worth, and so on. They can hinder our progress in our careers, have an effect on our relationships, and impede our happiness and general well-being. BMY has a team of psychotherapists in Dubai, providing holistic treatment for those who are suffering from psychological issues.
Traditional psychotherapy is used to focus on one aspect of a person’s issue. It was common to disregard emotions, for instance, and to just focus on thoughts. Or to separate physical symptoms from mental health challenges. Or to dismiss the role of the person’s environment and relational experiences in the development of their behavioral and mental health patterns. This understanding has changed a lot over the last few decades.
One of the most important shifts in mental health is the recognition of mental health as something dynamic, impacted by the interplay of different elements including (to name a few) environmental matters, socioeconomic challenges, relationship experiences, early life experiences, and genetic predisposition. Another ever-evolving understanding is the body-mind connection, the link between physical health and mental health, and the importance of a holistic approach to health and wellness.
Our psychologists in Dubai take a holistic approach to treatment, integrating these understandings and layers, and collaborating with others to provide a comprehensive model through naturalistic approaches and lifestyle practices that empower clients to experience a greater sense of well-being.
